http://www.carto.net/williams/yosemite/ is a first version of an interactive online hiking map of the Yosemite National Park. Of course it's not yet finished, but probably good enough for a first public version. This mapping application was created by one of my students (Juliana Williams) as her masters work. It uses Postgis to store and extract vector geodata and the UMN map server to extract raster data. Orthoimages are directly requested from Terraserver through a OGC WMS call. The application features a basic map, coordinate display (both UTM and geographic coordinates), an adaptive scalebar, a choice of hiking routes and the display of relevant hiking information A photogallery offers geo-reference photos, the viewpoint is displayed in the map. Text label placement is done in the SVG client using ECMAScript. Your feedback is always welcome. We plan to do integrate further features and fix bugs.
