Hi, I would also look at the option to convert the SVGs to PDF for printing, instead of generating raster images. Batik/FOP can convert to PDF and raster images, although sometimes graphics elements are rasterized in the final SVG, esp. when opacity and filters are used.
Also, there is meanwhile a large number of XSL-FO converters that can read SVG and output PDF. Antenna house, a japanese company, does a pretty good job with SVG to PDF conversion, so do others.
