Francis,

ASV is not the only solution for SVG on the IE platform. For example, there is
also the Corel SVG Viewer. The other SVG viewer vendors may also decide to
offer a plugin or activeX solution to fill any whole Adobe leaves behind.

After all, when MS left that W3C SVG workgroup, did you notice? So what's
one more or less enterprise champion? After all, Adobe has provided nothing
tangible to the SVG desktop ommunity since Adobe 3.0 came out. Is that two or
three years ago?

Finally, it is not reasonable to think that Adobe will leave the SVG market
considering that Adobe provides products for publishing SVG aimed at the
mobile platform. However, it may be worthwhile for SVG content providers to
analyse their Dependance on ASV and begin to make contingency plans around
the loss of ASV as a viewer solution.

One thing consumers and SVG champions will need to keep in mind is that unlike
Adobe who provided ASV free in order to sell serverside tools, the SVG
browser solution vendors would most likely charge for their browser
implementation since this is their primary income vector. Take eSVG as an
example of things to come, I expect.
