Ermm Funny this, what are my views on actionscript 3 and the death of SVG
Not much. For example how many full flash proper applications have you seen (not many, not proper ones) How long has flash been around? 10 years, maybe more so why isnt the web 90% flash driven? I have not seen any proper corporate proper full flash driven sites. Why isnt the www.bbc.co.uk flash driven, ebay, microsoft, dell, what about Tescos.co.uk, why isnt that. How many flash deselopers (design developers) around? apparently 1 million, which is sod all and macrodobey admit this is crap. I used flash extensively for 5 years and now I deal with many large corporate and fortune500 companies, mention flash, all fall on floor laughing. We are talking serious companies, flash has the image of 14 year old boys messing with circles and text and moving them. Its software to make adverts, nothing else. I am talking from experience and many PROPER developers would not touch flash, why do you think MacroDobey are trying to figure out a way of getting developers to use flex etc... no chance, not with proper developers and 14yr old that cant affords flex I loved flash until 3 years ago (i did flashverts) and i turned to SVG - oh by the way i have i nice car outside bcos of it. What i find funny is that when xaml comes out it will strengthen svg and xaml for both microsoft and SVG and leave the 14yr olds to move circles and text around with the words "look how cool this is" in flash I went to a conference with top developers (some of the biggest names in the UK and basically no one gives a Sh**t about flash) Marodobey are missing the point - Include SVG in flash and you compete with XAML through the flash player. Dont include it and XAML will take over in the business apps side. It will leave MacroDobey with a target audience of 12-16 year olds, leaving the proper stuff to SVG and XAML Also - two of the top companies who I work with have a turnover of over 700 million have flash disabled on all PC's in the entire company. The websites use animated gifs for any small animation if required. I personally think that XAML will be good for SVG cos some clever person will write a translation between the two and they will both be the winners. Richard --- In [email protected], "James C.
