Two other thoughts on the subject:

1. Opera is the only browser other than IE/ASV to do certain things (like
fancy filters, patterns etc.) to test my code in more than one platform it
is very nice to have another perspective around to help evaluate the
likelihood that my code will generalize to other platforms.

2. Opera's claim that they have the fastest browser seems from my testing to
be accurate. Some of what I like to do requires lots of content to be
generated on the fly and speed is very important. I don't mind telling some
folks that if you want to really see this properly download the following
browser (which may just happen to be "better" than the one you are using). I
realize this doesn't work for developers attempting to reach certain
audiences but for other purposes, having another option is nice. Who knows
Opera just might catch on when people realize it is good? Firefox has
certainly benefitted from quality as a selling point -- just at a time some
of us thought the browser wars were over.
