Firefox doesn't currently support animation using the built-in animation support of SVG (all the <animate*> elements). At the moment, you'll have to use scripting to have animation going in your SVG in Firefox. This won't be implemented in Firefox 2.0, but it might be in Firefox 3.0, which should be released in the first half of 2007.
