I experienced the very same problem an was forced to upgrade to Microsoft SP2, IE ver (latest)& Adobe SVG Viewer 3.03.
Also, I have had a problem with using the "utf-8" encoding option. When you save to SVG you may wish to utilize the "ISO-8859-1" enconding option if possible. Hope it helps.
