Many thanks. I think I will stick with embedding it seems more portable.

I can also provide a JavaScript interface for creating my charts that works 
with rendering either SVG, VML documents using javascript and DOM.

This brings up the issue of embed .v. object .v. frames .v. iframes I would 
appreciate some pointers and advice here.

  Take a look at http://wiki.svg.org/Inline_SVG -- it presents a concise 
statement of some methods for direct inclusion of SVG in HTML and some pointers 
to some other material.

  In addition to <object> and <embed> there is also <iframe> and <frame> and 
with a bit of handwaving, they can help out too.
