Hi,

I've figured out the problem. My page used an external JS file which 
wasn't in the development directory. When I copied it to my upload 
directory (which is basically a copy of my website), the JS file was 
in there and it interfered with the internal javascript. Not at all 
obvious!

You can now the page on-line.

I think I will try having an SVG version of the splashscreen in an 
object element and use the bitmap version if the user can't display 
SVG. Then the SVG version can say that the user's browser can display 
SVG. I'm sure there are some people who have the SVG viewer installed 
or are using Firefox or Opera and don't know they can view SVG files.
