For several years I've been modling space ships and things in Blender and then
exporting to SVG with a python script. The trouble was that the script left
quiet a bit to be desired, didn't work with newer versions of Blender and now
I've discovered that models created in newer versions of Blender don't work in
older ones.

I decided that it was time to find or write (although I'm not good with Python)
a new Python script. I'm using Blender 2.49a (the latest stable version but a
lot of people already seem to be using 2.5 alpha), so I needed to install
Python 2.6.2 (I know not the latest version). I found a python script called
Pantograph which exports SVG from Blender and is supposed to work with 2.49a (I
think). Unfortunately I can't get Blender to find the python scripts. I've
put them in the directory Program Files/Blender
Foundation/Blender/.blender/scripts/ (which seems to be about the only path
Blender's willing to accept). Still when I open a script window and click on
the "scripts" button, none of the Menu items does anything. Most just display
a small rectangle when I mouse over them. Nothing happens when I mouse over or
click on "Update Menues".

Does anybody know how to proceed? I suppose I could upgrade to Blender 2.5
alpha but I generally avoid alpha versions due to instability. Also I'm not
sure if Pantograph, or any other SVG generating script will work in 2.5 alpha
(or will it do so but not work in the final release of 2.5?).

Perhaps this is more of a Blender and Python question although you may know a
solution that relies on the fact that my objective to generate SVG images of my
space ships.

Am I right in thinking that Scour (simplyfies SVG files generated by Inkscape)
won't work in anything other than Python 2.5?
