sorry, I didn't see your previous message because it didn't get into the 
mailing list.

You can upgrade your server without affecting the client side. Actually nearly 
all (at least since 
1.5) server versions are compatible with all (at least since 1.5) client 
versions. So if you upgrade 
only your server, there's no need even in upgrading working copies, you can 
still continue using  
working copy 1.6 and SVNKit 1.3.x.

The only situation in which you need to upgrade SVNKit is if you want to use 
SVNKit on 1.7 working 
copy format.
