I wrote a blog about vertical centering almost two years ago. it includes
two examples of vertically centered SWFs:

(the swfs were embedded using SWFObject 1.5, which shows you how old the
post is!)

note that this is probably an outdated/bloated way of doing vertical
centering... i'm sure there are better ways to do it by now, i just haven't
bothered investigating.  :)
