Thank you for your reply. Sorry for my delay in responding.

Well I definitely do have a valid string being passed in to the
Flashvar. In fact I did wonder about this so I swapped the variables
for hard coded strings in the swfObj code to be sure. It didn't help.

To try and track down the fault I displayed the variables on the Stage
in Flash to see if they were being read in. My Flash file has only the
1  keyframe with Actionscript doing all the work. In safari and
Firefox on my Mac the variables came through, in IE6 the value was
'undefined'.

So do you think there's no reason for it not to work?
