Hello all,

It didn't get much attention at Macworld Expo, but the news about Java may move
Mac-based
Java developers "from REM sleep to a new awakening," reports Daniel Steinberg of Java
World.
The upcoming goodies include Mac OS X's full support for Java 2 Standard Edition
version 1.3;
Steve Jobs' "digital hub" strategy, which will enable developers to write to the Mac
using
J2SE and to digital appliances using J2ME; and an announcement by Apple's senior
director of
Java support tools that the company will support Sun's standard APIs. Developers will
want to
stay tuned to see whether Apple can transform the Mac into "the best Java platform on
the
planet," as Jobs has promised.
