Up here in Albany, I can get CRI every night on CHIN 1540 out of Toronto, which puts a decent 10kW signal into these parts after 10 p.m. when WCDC (formerly WPTR) signs off its Contemporary Christian programming for the day. (Parenthetically, what a comedown for the once proud 50,000 watter, The Great 1540, Home of Boom Boom Branigan. Here's a tribute site to that legendary station <http://www.capitalgold.org/WPTR/ >).

At 1550, there's CBE Windsor, the last (and soon to be silent) MW CBC Radio One station, another 10kW.

WKBW 1520 Buffalo, another legendary 50kW rocker, now carries progressive talk as WWKB.

Don't know if any of these make it to Philly or NYC. Growing up just outside Poughkeepsie, NY (80 miles from any major city or station) served as a great crossroads for MW signals from everywhere in the late '60s.

To those Festers living in greater Philadelphia, comes this item in
today's Northeast Radio Watch courtesy of Scott Fybush:

"And in Philadelphia, WNWR (1540) is running announcements saying its
current multicultural programming will move down the dial next Monday
(June 13) to Beasley's WWDB (860), where it will replace ESPN Deportes Spanish-language sports. What's next for WNWR? NERW wonders whether it
might join Boston's WILD as a new home for China Radio
International..."

Another option might be the Voice of Russia; they now have 24/7 MW
services in both Washington and NYC (technically Newark NJ, I believe)
for their English language programming. The Philly area does have a
notable Russian immigrant community.
