ok... good to know.
I have had some success of such mis-matching devices using Ubuntu, but couldnt
come up with the correct cabling with an OpenPC. The PCR worked for a limited
time on the Palm OS but I have forgotten how it worked the first time years ago
with help from a SWL in Italy over eBaY. Palm has since died as a popular OS
and support with teething problems is difficult to get.
Then I tried loading it on old Apple desktop as a precaution incase it
permanently disables my iPad. No such luck. So is there any other tablet that
would be compatible with the PCR-1000 or even PCR-1000 - Kindle, Android or
otherwise?

Software for the iPad must be specifically written for the iOS operating
system used by Apple - iOS 5 is the current version. PCR-1000 is not
supported by iOS (any version).
