Android has its own operating system that is not supported by Icom; same
with Kindle. However, Lenovo and Toshiba have Tablet PC's (laptops with
pen applications and a convertible screen that folds to a tablet
configuration - since they run Windows 7, they might support PCR-1000.
Depends on whether ICom has kept up with Microsoft's OS upgrades. PCR-1000
is an older receiver and may not be supported by a Windows OS later than
Windows XP. Current Apple and Android tablets may not have the horsepower
to support real-time software-driven receivers. This situation will change
over time as the tablets become more powerful, but the question is, will
receiver manufacturers support these when the demand for SW receivers
continues to drop.

ok... good to know.

I have had some success of such mis-matching devices using Ubuntu, but
couldnt come up with the correct cabling with an OpenPC. The PCR worked
for a limited time on the Palm OS but I have forgotten how it worked the
first time years ago with help from a SWL in Italy over eBaY. Palm has
since died as a popular OS and support with teething problems is difficult
to get.

Then I tried loading it on old Apple desktop as a precaution incase it
permanently disables my iPad. No such luck. So is there any other tablet
that would be compatible with the PCR-1000 or even PCR-1000 - Kindle,
Android or otherwise?

Software for the iPad must be specifically written for the iOS operating
system used by Apple - iOS 5 is the current version. PCR-1000 is not
supported by iOS (any version).

1.Icom PCR-1000 with Windows XP in my laptop and with Palm OS on my PDA. I
have all the necessary hardware.
2. Is it possible to use it with an iPad?
