Hi Thomas,

I remember "WiFi 92" in Philly very well. University of Pennsylvania's WXPN-FM later did a bluegrass show, but that was cancelled when they brought in a commercial Program Director named Mark Fuerst. Then WHYY-FM had Gene Shay due a bluegrass show, but that was also cancelled.

But there's hope for bluegrass in Philly: WPPM-LP (People Powered Media) is a community LPFM that went on the air last weekend after a good year of planning I was involved with. There's room in the schedule for a real bluegrass show, so anyone knows anyone in the area who'd be willing and able to produce it, please put them in touch with me.

We're also looking to fill a GM position, so if anyone on the list knows anyone in the Philadelphia area who might be interested in that, let me know ASAP. (The application deadline will likely be extended.)

Say it isn't so. Good bluegrass music programming may come to an end in Washington unless WAMU can sell its station by year end. I came around to bluegrass music through Philadelphia's WIFI-92.5 airing wonderful folk music in the early 1960s when I was in college.
