Thanks for this reply, Richard.

But, I still have failed to find the administrative justification for shutting down these station(s) in the budget..

I looked through various analyses of the proposed NIST budget, but I could not find the justification of the cuts in the administration's proposed NIST budget.

In other words, why are the stations proposed for elimination? It is required that borh NIST and also the office of budget management at the White House must explain the reason for the cuts in the proposed budget.

Further, if anybody wishes to file any effective complaints or comment, it will be vital for those comments and/or complaints to provide effective counterpoint to whatever the administration says is the reason for the proposed elimination. I still have not found such reasoning in the budget document, and nobody is talking about it on these various SWL Fest threads. Thus, I highly recommend that nobody send any comments and/or complaints in until somebody on this thread points out the precise reasoning in the budget behind the proposal to shut down the station(s). Without knowing that, any input from us to the officials listed here would be entirely ineffective.

So, I am waiting. What is the reasoning in the budget proposal to shut down the stations? We need somebody to describe this in detail, hopefully with a link going to the complete justification language in the budget proposal..

The way the announcement was worded, in simply read "...-$6.3 million supporting fundamental measurement dissemination, including the shutdown of NIST radio stations in Colorado and Hawaii" As far as I know, the only radio stations NIST has are WWV, WWVH, and WWVB. One would think that every "atomic watch" maker would be up in arms in WWVB were to be shut down. As Ed C. suggests, faxes & letters to NIST and Congress would be recommended. Here are some contacts.
