Thanks Tom! Nice job on the SWLfest program schedule PDF. The computer I'm using to correspond for this email thread doesn't have a good PDF creation tool on it right now, so that's why I asked if anyone else can make a PDF of the SWLfest schedule.

Rich, would you please post a link to Tom's PDF on the SWLfest.com website and host it where people can download it for printing or copying to their tablet or smartphone? This method (posting a link to a PDF copy of the program schedule) can be used this year and in future years if you're no longer going to make a printed program available.

For what it's worth, a biennial conference I help organize called HOPE (which several SWLfesters attend and speak at) hosts over a hundred talks and panels over three days, costs about the same as the SWLfest for admission, and since 1994 still includes a printed program booklet with dozens of pages. Even though it's a hacker conference whose attendees bring fancy laptops, tablets, and mobile electronic devices, we still recognize that a printed paper program is of great value to our attendees--and they appreciate it. Printed text on recyclable paper is still a very practical and useful medium in 2019.

p.s. - If anyone reading this is curious about the content at HOPE, here's a listing of the 100+ talks and panels from last year's conference. You can click on any of them for a description of the presentation and the speakers' names--some of which you may recognize ;-) http://hope.net/grid.html

Geez Ed. Not that tough to make a PDF. 10 minutes... enjoy.

If anyone doesn't have a working computer printer at home, they might be able to use the hotel's "Business Center with Complimentary Printing Service" to print their SWLfest program.

Is anyone willing to make a well-formatted PDF of the SWLfest schedule that Richard would put up a link to on the SWLfest.com website for people to print or copy to their tablet or smartphone?

Hi everyone -

As your Festmeisters are getting older and lazier, we've decided to
streamline the registration check-in process a bit.

First, since the Fest program is already available on the website,
we're not going to print out paper copies for the registration
envelopes.  You can go ahead & print a copy off yourself if you need a
paper copy; the program also renders adequately on tablets and
smartphones, so you can go paperless and cut down on the paper we all
throw away each year.

Second, if you pre-purchased raffle tickets, your registration
envelope won't contain the tickets themselves.  It will contain a card
that you can then exchange for the tickets at any time the
registration table is open.  That saves us time in preparing the
envelopes for everyone.

Your registration envelope will, as usual, have your name badge,
souvenir pen, and a dinner card (if you are joining us for dinner).

We'll print up some copies of the program for those who don't have
computer or printer access.  Come to think of it, folks without
computer access won't see this note anyway...

See you all next weekend!
