We've had a bug reported against Xiphos, here https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=105528&aid=2844863&group_id=5528. Essentially the reporter is getting different results doing an indexed search in BibleTime and Xiphos, in the JFB module, for the word "oil". Now of course, BT implements its own indexing, and I believe they index headers, footnotes and maybe other stuff, so I thought that might explain this a little. However, this module has no headers or footnotes that I can see, and Xiphos is clearly missing some valid search results. So I compiled sword/examples/cmdline/search to use lucene search, and I got the same results. Strangely, though, I just tried Xiphos on Windows and I got 120 results.
Windows is 32 bit, SWORD 1.6.0. Linux is Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit. Both are using the same module version. In both, I created the indexes from Xiphos. (OK, just to double-check I created the index with mkfastmod and got the same results) Any idea why this is happening?
