The one thing that the Module Team did that should not be done was to use the filter UTF8GreekAccents to detect change and mistakenly conclude that a module being prepared for release contained Greek.
This is a simple thing to stop doing, now that we understand in part why the logic is flawed. Nevertheless, this filter makes changes beyond simply removing Greek accents. Can someone please explain why it removes the codepoint U+2019 from our Greek modules? The right single quotation mark is NOT a diacritic. It's not a valid Greek accent. I could understand that the source text for some of our Greek modules might mistakenly have used it in place of U+1FBF GREEK PSILI that looks somewhat similar, but that's not a valid reason for stripping out a quotation mark. If there are any such errors in our modules, the proper action would be to rebuild the module.
