Greg:
Thank you for your reply. In what state are "commits"? How well have
they been tested? How likely is downloading a commit to break other
thing such as Xiphos? I am not expecting perfection, just trying to get
an idea of what to expect. I am not sure I want to be downloading
something that is right in the middle of debugging and not working.
(Xiphos still works fine after the building r3612.)
Thanks again.

The rXXXX refers to a revision number in Subversion. Every commit there
gets a unique revision number. From there, every so often, we make
stable releases. Only the stable releases go to the download URL you linked.

Perhaps you might explain your method of operation a bit then. The
latest dates are last January. So the bug fix we just discussed would
not be in the versions downloadable from that site.
Is there another place to get later, stable, versions? I assumed that
the r in "just updated to -r3612" indicated some kind of stable
release.
If I am missing some documentation or something, I would appreciate a
link. Thanks much.
