First of all comparing a php framework with big open source project is 
like comparing apples with... airplanes! The symfony crew is mainly two 
people and I have been subscribed to the mailing lists for several 
months now and do not see many people contributing to the actual 
framework (plug-ins, yes, but not much framework features). So, how much 
money they make from this I do not know and do not care because they 
deserve any cent of it.

My point was, it is not perfect and if you want to make it better you 
create improvements or patches when you see fit. Also, what so much was 
wrong with the framework that made you go behind schedule?

Anyway, too many "users" in what should have been more developer driver 
community...
