It is indeed odd, but I think having a way to build plugins which work
regardless of the ORM you use would be a very nice feature. Whether or not
that is even possible is debatable still.

Francois, the thing about what I suggested above is you can continue
developing the Propel functionality, but you can develop it in a way so that
we can have this sf{ORM}Finder interface available to be extend to things
other than Propel.

I am going to code up my ideas and I'll let you know how it goes. I am 100%
confident I can modify the code a little bit to implement an interface, and
have sfPropelFinder and sfDoctrineFinder implement this common interface. We
would then have to discuss how we can create an abstraction for interacting
with the ORM models.
