Hi Nicolas, I understand that the problems exposed here are in the sfPropelPlugin, not in Propel itself. This plugin is maintained by the symfony core team, and I think that Fabian and Kris are better suited than me to answer you.
My 2 cents : I'm not sure that delaying the release of a subset of symfony makes much sense.
