Thanks for the reply. However, if I add a primary keys separate and apart 
from the current fk/pk for each table, then the nature of the relationships 
will be changed unless i add a plethora of unique keys. 

I will try to see what I can learn from the doctrine guys as weaverryan 
suggested.

If not, I may just have to use dbal and drop orm altogether. My database 
currently houses over 40 tables and about 30 of them are a part of such 
complex relationships. I'm not sure how orm will handle them. I may end up 
writing a lot more code, but at least the performance will be better.
