Hi list,

I have some problems to understand how to implement i18n and l10n correctly.

I'm working on an international community project. That means it has to
run in multiple countries and multiple languages. I want the users to be
able to write contents in their preferred language (a user setting). But
users should be able to change this language both for writing contents
and for reading / searching contents.

In the database I have this culture field which contains both, the
country and the language.

I'm not sure if this is really a good way to put this together. I think
it is much better to separate the language from the country.

In any case I think that I should limit possible languages to only those
where I already have the interface translation available!?

How would you handle this?

The other problem is the interface translation. I need a web-based
solution as there will be several persons working on different
translations. So I guess the best thing is to use the MySQL driver? Or
what do you suggest?

Thanks for any help!

Regards,
Matthias
