New issue 1568 by smichr: factoring is working too hard http://code.google.com/p/sympy/issues/detail?id=1568 The 3rd derivative of (1 - x)**2*(4 + x)/((2 + x)*(a + x)) wrt x is a polynomial with exponent having an order of 53. If you try to factor it, it takes a LONG time (about a minute), but factor() would do much better if it first looked for a gcd of the terms. If it did so, it would extract the two terms, (2 + x)**25 and (a + x)**25 leaving behind a cubic that is quickly factored. /c -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
