Comment #1 on issue 1639 by [email protected]: Missing high-level laurent() and taylor() series expansion functions (Maple 11)
http://code.google.com/p/sympy/issues/detail?id=1639

I am unsure about the idea of a general series() function being the first port of
call for series expansion; there are just too many ways to go about it.

Common series I encounter: Fourier, Bessel, Legendre polynomials, Laurent (Taylor). Hence I think a discussion is warranted on the best way to go about series expansions as it would be good to cover as many of them as possible in the most general way
possible.
