Comment #2 on issue 1868 by mattpap: solve(floating point, x) stopped working
http://code.google.com/p/sympy/issues/detail?id=1868

This is fixed in polys8 branch. Note that it's better to use nroots() function to get numerical approximations of roots of the input polynomial (nroots() utilizes mpmath's
root finding algorithm), e.g.:

In [1]: EQN1 = -12.0* 12.0*(2*sqrt(3.0) + 9.0) + (78.0 + 24.0*sqrt(3.0) )*x**2 -
3.0*sqrt(2.0) * x**3 - x**4

In [2]: EQN1
Out[2]:
                                      2 3 4
-1794.83063257984 + 119.569219381653⋅x - 4.24264068711929⋅x - x

In [3]: nroots(EQN1)
Out[3]: [-12.7530479110482, -3.85012393732929, 4.89897948556636, 7.46155167569183]
