Hmm... I have looked at Basic.__str__ and Basic.__repr__ many times and I
never
actually understood the code.
This patch is clearly an improvement but the situation remains bad.
Monkey-patching a
module is really a nasty thing to do. Could str_printer be stored as a class
attribute instead? Monkey-patching a class is still bad, but not as much.
