When working in core, and wanting to continue work until the change is merged to master, how do you know if your future work is going to depend on it? Take this issue, for example. I submitted the branch as a single commit on master and now there are changes here which are incompatible with my current work. If I had left it in my ongoing work I could have built on it and it would be in a more refined state now.
