I would not introduce new guesses beyond perhaps GS_POW. If you take a look
at the attached patch, I reorganize solve the way I think it should be,
rationalizing all functions before trying anything, and then stepping
through the multiplicative terms of the numerator. The result passes all
tests (with minor modifications). What do you think? Could you use that as
a new starting point for your final iteration?
