Note that the patch relies on rerunning the "simple heuristics" at the beginning of limit(), using very dodgy intermediate results like sin(oo), and can cause gruntz to unnecessarily run twice. I fear that significant improvements are only possible by modifying Gruntz's algorithm itself, though.
