Yes, it would be awesome. The basic idea behind SymPy is to have
useful functionality now and have a nice easy to use Python library.
You might also consider contributing to SAGE:

http://sagemath.org/

that aims to create an opensource alternative to
Maple/Mathematica/Matlab, that also includes SymPy.
