I'm a complete beginer. I used to 'program' in Matlab but I migrated
to Python (thanks God) since August, so before, I had never
"developed" code, just "used" pre-built functions without really
enjoying the 'behind the courtains' process. Now I use PythonWin 2.5
Interactive Window (comand line) and its editor, which works much like
Vim.
For the first time I'm learning how to use a revision control
software, and I'm feeling comfortable with mercurial for windows... It
pretty much looks familiar with a unix-like terminal.

It's good to know that git has something for windows, I'm going to try
it too!

Thanks Ondrej, I'll keep working on my patch. By the way, I already
made a function that solves my problem. I'll write of that later
because I have more questions.
