Oh. I totally missed that your question was aimed at IPython.
In that case, I simply don't know.
In theory, IPython might have done the platform-dependent stuff for you;
in practice, it would surprise me if it had.
Or any other Python implementation, for that matter.
(And I'd want the stuff to work on any Python implementation, so even if
it worked on IPython that might not be enough.)
BTW I can see how boldface would be highly desirable.
If you happen to find a workable solution, that would be great!
