Did you try adding a new file categories.txt in doc/src/modules, then
add an entry for it in doc/src/modules/index.txt? Then just copy the
format from one of the other files, like logic.txt.
Hope this works; I think that's what I did (i.e. you need no more
magic). But it's been a while.

Yes, I've done that too, however, it didn't automagically my new files
(which is quite normal, I guess). I thought there was an easy way of
building docs out of some files only.
In this case my question changes to the following: how do I get my
module into the documentation? I've skimmed over something about
.doctrees on some Sphinx pages, but I don't seem to find that sort of
information in application to SymPy specifically :-(
