It sounds like the module needs a bit of planning and organization before I just go hacking away and changing things (aside from one or two bugs).
Where on GitHub is the best place to discuss that? I'm completely unfamiliar with GitHub, though I have some experience using Git. It seems to me that it might be immature to start submitting Pull Requests because we first need to think very carefully about how to implement coordinate dependence in a rational and efficient way.
