Requiring manual installation of dependencies is going to give propective users a bad first impression. This is going to get worse as more dependencies are being added (pep8.py is already being discussed).

I assume that this can be fixed by using pip in the installation instructions, and noting the proper dependencies. The pip docs list some scenarios where the wrong version of a dependency might be installed, so we probably need to add a check that we indeed have the correct version.
