At last, synchronized with evolution- thanks Mark, this was impossible without your assistance, especially the need for only a selection of sync software from testing, avoiding opensync and raki, getting odccm from unstable- finally an unexpected tweak to first evolution then multisync did the job. I think I ought to produce a "howto" because this process is not intuitive and the instructions aren't really accessible to a beginner or perhaps even an intermediate Linux user. I'll post the link when I have a draft.
One thing- is it necessary to run synce-serial-start from root?
