I'm not aware of any patent trolling activity around ActiveSync. I was just
wondering if Microsoft had clearly given a blanket protection from their
patents to free software implementation of ActiveSync, like they did with
Samba. According to what you reported this is not the case. In any case, the
client side the protocol seems to be safe from patent claims because it does
trivial things.
