So as I suspected, it is the obsolete version.

The "might not be compatible" can be ignored. It worked fine in my
tests, so 1.1.99.5 no longer has that warning.

SyncEvolution 1.1 was still favoring the old versions. Therefore it
ended up using, for example, libebook-1.2.so.9 instead of
libebook-1.2.so.10.

Hmm. Can you replace "deb http://downloads.syncevolution.org/apt stable
main" with "deb http://downloads.syncevolution.org/apt unstable main"?
Despite the name, the new version 1.1.99.5 is ready to replace 1.1.
