I don't think it does. Mapping the group information to the CATEGORIES property would be pretty natural, but I don't see that information in the data sent by Google. I've been unhappy with contact syncing with Google via SyncML because the data mapping is so incomplete on the Google side. If you are interested, a nice next project would be to write a Google backend for SyncEvolution based on the G-Data API.
