Patrick thank you! So this might explain the issue because when compiling and deploying to custom, I use the bundled synthesis and for debian package I use the one provided by debian. The one in jessie is ii libsynthesis0:amd64 3.4.0.47.4-2+b1 but strings /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libsynthesis.so.0 | grep 'RELAXEDCOMPARE' returns nothing. I'll look into this direction.
