No, it's a feed of it's own. Now, it WOULD be helpful to have a way to 'link' them. We've something in the works for this but it'll be a while in coming. > 2) what to do if a feed has some recognizable words but > contains a lot of non-sense characters (for instance: 235382) That feed is broken right off the starting line. It's lacking a language tag and the content isn't english. It does appear to be the right characters though. If you don't see chinese characters then you might need to upgrade your browser. I've been using Firefox quite a bit lately and it's been really nice. I'll give whoever made that feed credit, mixing chinese and latin characters for a creme brulee title isn't trivial. Shame they missed on the language tag. Generally if you don't read the language used in a feed you're free to pass on reviewing the feed. No sense in being the person marked in the database as the one that approved some heinously inappropriate feed just because you couldn't read the text! It's also important to point out that approval here is strictly on a techincal level. Is it a valid feed that has all the right data present. Not that it's something you agree or disagree with. We suggest reviewers pass on handling that sort of stuff and let someone else review it, I do it all the time. > 3) can a feed be syndicated if the validator says the feed is valid > but gives 1 or more warnings (like: Feeds should not be served with > the "text/html; charset=ISO- 8859- 1" media type)? This is an interesting question. Technically text/plain is NOT suitable for sending out anything other than ASCII plain text. A great many tools ignore this and use the feed's embedded encoding type. Still, it is technically incorrect to publish a feed without using the right content type. But if the feed is otherwise good then you can let it slide. We're not here to be nitpicking over these somewhat esoteric techincal points. If we get all the encoding and language stuff worked out THEN we can go back and start beating people up on the trivial stuff. > 4) is 'rejected' a status that only applies to the content of the > feed and 'awaiting repair' to non-valid XML? We only reject feeds that are completely bogus. Filled with "this is a test" sort of data and the like. If it's badly done XML then mark it for repair.
