The first aggregator I ever used was Amphetadesk (http://www.disobey.
com/amphetadesk/), which besides being very cool, with news search 
capabilities (I haven't tried ferreting out alabama technology, 
though:-)also brought me to "Syndic8". I switched to Opera because I 
was using the browser anyway and, being on dial-up, the fewer 
applications taking bandwidth, the better.
