I'm sure that it is a problem of the freefont libraries. For some reason in your system that library is not found. I'm now used to deal with windows configuration because it is not my native OS. I've installed and run Synfig Studio in a W7 32 bits in a virtual machine and runs without troubles. Maybe pixelgeek can have other idea. I have done the business with starting synfigstudio in a windows command window, and I have a 15KB text file. I will try to attach it to this Artifact. Also please, try to install the latest release and be sure that the Single Threaded Renderer checkbox is enabled in the Settings dialogue from Toolbox (Miscellaneous tab). We have successfully loaded those files in a windows environment with the latest release.
