Hi Carlos!
Long-time lurker here,
I'm glad to see you're asking about our percieved priorities for the
project. I'm not a dev myself but I strongly believe that if we're ever
going to have a true alternative to flash, Synfig will be it. As such,
my "wish list" may be a little far-fetched, I'm not sure. Here it is:
1. Standardised vector export: Animated SVG seems to be a good candidate
to me as most modern browsers should be capable of it. (Existing samples
online currently use some javascript for syncing audio playback as well).
2. Drawing (as in, with a tablet) and frame-by-frame support. This is
what made Pencil great, new animators will appreciate such a feature.
3. At least basic audio playback support. Ideally, audio transformation
as well but being able to begin playing an audio file on a given frame
would be a wonderful start.
I place emphasis on these points because (hopefully) they will appeal to
those seeking flash alternatives. If we can get a fair amount of PR
behind such features, more users - and potential contributors - will
adopt the software. UI improvements should naturally follow as users
suggest ways to improve the workflow.
Hopefully this helps, tell me what you think.
Josh Bell.

Hi!
Finally I submitted my talk to LGM 2013. It will have the format of
BoF and the theme will be:
"Synfig Studio development priorities"
Since most of you couldn't participate on the meeting, it would be
great that I can carry your voice there. I know that the theme of
development priorities has been touched several times on the forums
but it would be great to gather your ideas again.
I propose to only focus in your top three priorities to force you
think where we should really put the efforts. You can elaborate your
proposal as detailed you want or simply list the ideas. If I don't
understand what you want to express I'll ask here.
My proposal is:
1) Render engine speed up. Includes: Cairo and cairo-gl
implementation. Rework of the quality settings. Core optimizations for
render on canvas and for play animation on screen.
2) UI redesign. It should fit (not in specific order): high user
customization, gtk3 compliant, native OSX windowing, newbie user
friendly, UI designed for production.
3) Drawing / animating tools improvements: Frame by frame support,
real hand draw support, Time line / keyframes / waypoints rework.
What's yours?
